Perth Hostels
Itchy Feet Team | May 27, 2009 | Comments 0
If you are looking for hostels in Perth we have compiled a top 5 list which should help out if you are trying to organise bookings prior to getting there. Rather than us putting great blurbs written by the hostel we sourced feedback from travellers who have stayed in Perth Hostels. We have listed them in order from the top listing onwards. Read the comments because some hostels which rate highly may not suit you and your needs e.g. This is a great hostel if you want to get some sleep. Obviously not a party hostel so would not suit the party animals.
This is a list of Perth Hostels with pricing and booking options, read on for reviews.
The Emperors Crown Backpackers
85 Stirling Street, Northbridge
Really comfortable hostel – rooms were big with 4 beds, big lockers (byo lock), bathrooms always clean, good showers, good security, great location. Pretty quiet too. Highly recommended.
Jo, Austria | Female 25-30 | 17th May 2009
Good location, clean rooms/showers and decent kitchen. Some staff were excellent but a little overstretched, the receptionist was generally only staff member on site which meant reception was often closed for long periods. That was only really downside of this very nice hostel.
Jonathan, Ireland | Couple 25-30 | 11th May 2009
Really like it here. Great central Northbridge location (but not so that you’re kept awake). Good facilities. Nice buzz. Staff helpful. Lots of long termers but atmosphere remains friendly rather than cliquey. Not a party hostel.
rosey, England | Female 31-40 | 13th April 2009
the emperors crown was a fab place to stay with a good location. very clean spot should be classed as a hotel not a hostel.
andreahoran, Ireland | Female 18-24 | 25th March 2009
really nice and fairly quiet place. v clean and new, and good facilities. could perhaps be done with more going on in the evenings. internet and wifi very reasonably priced. staff helpful. definately recommended.

The Witchs Hat Backpacker Hostel
Good place for all categories of travellers to Perth to stay. Reasonably cheap…… and it’s all in 3 words….”comfortable”.”convenient”.”clean”.

Hopper’ the ex tour guide, now manager of this Hostel, is as helpful as possible in all aspects. He took great pleasure in helping us with our plans for road tripping the west coast! GREAT HOSTEL, STAY HERE!

This was my favourite of the five i stayed in. It is close to Perth centre but in a quiet residential location. It was clean and well run. I arrived at midnight and i was still shown around. There was lots of space in the kitchen/ fridge. i met some very nice people and had some enjoyable evenings in without spending any cash. One suggestion – extend the period the outside is closed to the early morning. i got woken up by peolpe chatting outside at 6.30am.
moby, England | Female 41+ | 17th April 2009
A great hostel to stay at. A busy hostel where you can meet people from all over the world, yet the hostel is also a very relaxing place to stay. The hostel also has great information about the tours available around WA

kristadoherty15358, Ireland | Couple 25-30 | 08th April 2009The kitchen was a bit grubby and I thought it would be good to have wifi internet available using the YHA Connect cards that other YHA have. Thank you for the stay.
megadombomb, Canada | Male 41+ | 01st April 2009Kitchen needs a revamp, as do bathrooms but dorms are clean and cheerful.

Ocean Beach Backpackers
The location is good coz it’s very near the Cottesloe beach and the bus stop to get to the city is just few steps from the hostel too. However, there’s not much going on there maybe bec it’s already autumn. The staff are niceWilliam, Philippines | Female 25-30 | 23rd May 2009Reasons to stay at OBB: 1. You are under 21 2. You REALLY miss dorm life at a party school 3. You have come solely for the beach and have no interest in the rest of Perth 4. You don’t mind having an uncleaned room for a week straight 5. You enjoy being woken up every hour on the hour by drunken hall mates 6. You want to pay a LOT by hostel standards for this crappy experience
Jennifer, USA | Couple 25-30 | 03rd May 2009
the location was far from the city centre of Perth, however it was right near the beach, with 2 bars and a lovely cafe bar on the beach. the staff didn’t smile much or ask how things are going but if you asked them then they would help. the room was quirky and had alot of space. i would definatly recommend this hostel if you want a beach chill with a fun night.
debbiepalmer, England | Female 25-30 | 23rd April 2009
Excellent location as so close to the beach and good facilities. Good if you prefer beach over town as town is 45 mins away by bus.
